XplorIt was founded in 2019 with a simple but ambitious mission: to democratize marine research and create a global network of data collection that can accelerate our understanding of the world's oceans.
By providing tools for ship captains to collect and share scientific samples, we're building a distributed data collection network that spans the globe, reaching areas traditional research vessels rarely visit.
Our platform connects these samples with researchers who analyze the data and publish findings, creating an open ecosystem of ocean knowledge that benefits science, conservation, and policy-making.
